SK Innovation group Donates $50,000 to United Way COVID-19 Fund

ENID, OK (May 19, 2020) –United Way of Enid and Northwest Oklahoma (United Way of Enid) announced today that it received a $50,000 donation from SK Innovation, a South Korean energy company and the parent company of SK E&P America, Inc. which is an oil & gas company mainly operating in Kingfisher, Grant and Garfield counties, Oklahoma on Tuesday, May 19 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Way of Enid office.

The donation will be allocated to the ‘United Way of Enid & NW OK COVID-19 Response Fund’ organized and created by a coalition of philanthropy, government and business partners for local residents suffering from novel coronavirus (COVID-19), and will be used to support Hygiene Kit and IT devices for remote learning. 

As of May 11, there were 4,733 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Oklahoma, and the Enid community is also suffering from a lack of testing equipment amid the economic downturn and social distancing practices that have been put in place.

"Our organization is thrilled to have the opportunity to help fund education, financial stability, health and the basic needs of the Enid citizens, especially those hit hardest by the impacts of the COVID-19 crisis" said Dan Schiedel, CEO and Executive Director of United Ways of Enid. "We are deeply grateful to SK Innovation for making a such a substantial contribution to our cause" he said.

Superintendent and Chief of Enid office of SK E&P America, Johnny Rowe, had the honor of presenting the donation to United Way of Enid. “We are proud to have the opportunity to help the Enid community in any way we can” said Rowe. “Our goal is that this donation will find its way to those who need it most during this unprecedented time”
